A paralegal is a general term for someone who works in a legal environment and helps in the practice of legal services. They are not, however, solicitors, barristers or lawyers. A paralegal's role can be pretty wide-ranging and can take the form of a general administrative position, where they would answer calls and ensure appointments are kept, to the more demanding area of legal research.
