Certain benefits may also save the employer and employee money through preferential tax treatment. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only this, employees place great value on their wider benefits, with <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/employeebenefits.co.uk\/two-thirds-benefits-important-salary\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">two thirds of employees<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> believing that the benefits offered to them are equal to or more important than their basic salary. Pensions are a mandatory benefit for eligible employees, with a minimum contribution rate of 8% of qualifying earnings, of which at least 3% has to be paid by the employer. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fincap.org.uk\/en\/insights\/employer-pension-contributions-in-the-uk\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6 in 10 employees<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> work for an employer which offers the minimum contribution rate. This quarter of vacancies offering a pensions scheme likely reflects instances where employers are offering an enhanced contribution. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The next most frequently offered benefit is flexible working, a loosely defined term which commonly refers to flexibility around the hours an employee works. This should not refer to one-sided flexibility that benefits the employer to the detriment of the employee, such as zero hours contracts and other similar insecure forms of employment in certain cases.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"emoji\" draggable=\"false\" src=\"https:\/\/s.w.org\/images\/core\/emoji\/11\/svg\/1f4a1.svg\" alt=\"\" \/> Read more: <\/strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.adzuna.co.uk\/blog\/changing-workplace-models\/\">Changing workplace models: Remote, on-site &amp; flexible<\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And then rounding out the top five most commonly offered benefits are life insurance, a cycle to work scheme and bonus schemes.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Top occupations for benefits<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is significant variation in what benefits are offered by occupations. Those occupations that are most likely to offer a (enhanced) pensions scheme are often in the public sector, with <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Officers in armed forces<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (84%), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Police officers (sergeant and below)<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (82%) and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Postal workers, mail sorters and messengers <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(71%) the top three most likely to do so. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Meanwhile, the occupations that are least likely to offer pensions schemes are typically less formal, more temporary and often part-time forms of employment \u2013 this includes <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Childminders<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (0%), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Nannies and au pairs<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (0%), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Window cleaners<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1%), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scaffolders, stagers and riggers <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(2%), <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bricklayers<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2%), and <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Floorers and wall tilers<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (1%).
