For most people, there’s no shortcut to getting there. You have to work hard and get a lot of experience to be scouting CEOs. One thing that will help though is being confident and sure of your abilities in recruitment.
Recruitment is all about sales really. You’re trying to sell a position to a candidate and the candidate(s) to the employer. So having a background or training in sales could give you the edge.
As for career trajectory, it’s pretty much as you mentioned. Go from a junior recruiter to an established recruitment consultant to a senior recruiter.
The only thing is though, you can be a senior recruiter and not touch a 6-figure salary. You have to be in the right company – a company that does hire for C-level roles.
Don’t forget too that recruiters work on bonuses, so you could potentially be earning a high salary even if your base salary isn’t in that range. As long as you’re good at your job and place a lot of candidates.
