Mary Poppins was a great literary and then musical invention but do you have what it takes to be a nanny? Can you get those little horrors to use the naughty step? And, can you handle the parents? Nannies need tact, diplomacy and an almost psychic ability to deal with parents and children to great effect.
Nannies often work in private homes. Nannies are responsible for the children and all aspects of childcare from dressing, feeding, bathing, changing nappies with young children to helping older children for example with their reading, eating, play and talking and general education.
You might be involved in helping the children on trips in the holidays or you might be hired before the child is born and help in the child's first year.
You are interested in childcare and in the social and personal development of children. You have a great approach to parents and children and can devise great play, educational and social activities if needed. You are creative and have a good imagination to come up with play ideas. You have boundless energy and stamina. You have a willingness to and an ability to work in challenging environments and can respond to all sorts of situations. You have an awareness of food, health and safety and hygiene and have a responsible attitude towards your work. Most of all, you love children and their parents.
