Dundee is a university city with a population of 150,000. It lies on the River Tay, with striking views of the bridge and estuary. Dundee Law, an extinct volcano, towers above the city. Dundee has rail links to Aberdeen, Glasgow and Edinburgh and is handy for the A90. Its airport offers daily flights to London, Birmingham and Belfast.
The city is served by the Overgate and Wellgate shopping centres. There are two cinemas, the Dundee Ice Arena and a wide selection of pubs, bars, restaurants and clubs. Local attractions include ballet and music at Caird Hall, drama at Dundee Rep, exhibitions at Dundee Contemporary Arts and Antarctic explorer Captain Scott's ship Discovery, now a museum. The magnificent Glamis Castle is nearby.
Auchterhouse Country Sports Club provides a range of activities from archery to quad biking and there are 50 golf courses in the area.
