Ealing is a diverse borough in West London; about a third of its population was born outside the UK. Known in London as 'leafy Ealing' it is considered one of the nicest residential areas of the capital.
Despite its bustling metropolitan feel, Ealing started life as an ancient village, with archeological remains dating back 7,000 years. However the borough is probably most famous for its part in cinema history, as home to Ealing Studios. It is the oldest continuously working film studio in the world and classic films such as the Lady Killers and newer films such as Shaun of the Dead were filmed there.
Famous former residents include Sid James, an actor and comedian, singer Jay Kay and author Henry Fielding.
