Logistics refers to the flow of good, materials and resources between point A and point B. The industry involves information management, warehousing, transportation, packing, stock taking, security and much, much more. Logistics and Warehouse jobs cover a number of different job titles in a variety of sectors. Logistics jobs can range from Air Traffic Controllers and Distribution Manager to Haulage drivers and Freight Forwarders. Warehouse jobs are primarily based within a warehouse but can also include dispatch and transport to and from the warehouse. Forklift truck drivers, site managers and drivers are common roles to find in this environment.
As the industry cover such a wide range of processes and functions (transportation, inventory, warehousing, material handling, packing, driving, security etc.) there are a myriad of skills required for this industry. Often an HGV license is required if you're involved in transportation and general health & safety skills are an absolute must. Working in a warehouse or as part of a supply chain can be hard and dangerous work, so you'll need to have a sensible head on your shoulders, the ability to think on your feet and be good at working with others.
