A whole bunch of smart people and the chance to work with some awesome brands and companies. Pay isn't bad at all for graduates.
Prepare yourself for a moan - I joined Accenture on the graduate programme in 2011 and I must say, the assessment day is pretty laughable. IMHO, a company has to be able to discriminate between candidates. They try to do so by setting up assessment centres, where they supposedly look for evidence of competencies, but really, as long as you don't say or do something too stupid (and most people don't), it's going to be a case of how much they personally like you, and more importantly how you'd "fit" within their corporate frame. Not so objective, then. If you're extremely intelligent or have a lot of personality, ... Not so objective, then. If you're extremely intelligent or have a lot of personality, tone it down! You need to be seen as a "safe" investment, and not everyone can be a partner. Imagine lots of brilliant, highly ambitious individual in a big corporation with big personalities! A bit of a joke! more
Lengthy interview process and crazy assessment centre.
Great team and also you had a high enough profile to network tenerally Good at selling the message internally that we are working to deliver to our shareholders. Team effort is well directed by good working processes and methodologies. Good opportunities exist to learn online and there was some good computer based training to learn from Clients were all very different from each other and it made the work interesting
Because the business is so honed to delivering the shareholder interest it sometimes struggles with adapting to customer demands or to make the most of its human capital and does not do enough to reward the individual or develop leaders internally. Sometimes work can be really pressured when you get to a particular point in the project, also some clients can be very demanding and the hours you need to put in to please them can get a bit much
To be bored at work is unusual.
The people
The hours
Unexpected humanity for such a large company
I don't have one good word to say about the place
If you are an experienced hire you will be taken on at a level far far below your current role. You will also be expected to take roles that you are not qualified or experienced to do. They make no use of your expertise or experience. Promotions are only gained by being popular in in the face of senior management. Plus if you are not promoted within 2 years they fire you.
If you are not London based then you do not stand a chance
The best thing is its people and In consulting the opportunity to travel around the world if you like it.
The insane working hours, lack of focus on training and people's skill development, you will be assigned to roles that you are not qualified in order to fill the role or increase the billing. Totally margin driven and not ppl driven. The constant pressure to network. In order to be promoted you need to be in the face of Senior management and you need to be lucky to be in the right project in the right time with the right people.
I expected more technically competent people. There are only managers and rarely folks skilled in niche areas.
Global company. Global exposure, 300,000 crowd of people.
Since it is large organisation, getting promotion is a nightmare. You need to search for a project which is like searching for a job within the organisation. As other reviewers mentioned, you will be asked to do non skill jobs too when your skills are highly paid in the market. If you are to known to senior management then you are well recognised. as simple as it is...Hopless place to spend if you are well experienced.
Long hours, less salary, Need to be away from family Mon to Fri, Spending hefty on alcohols.
Fair pay shouldn't be a benefit!
