The company environment at Aviva is great, they are very supportive of those wanting to have a good balance between work and home life. The culture is very friendly and relaxed and the benefits offered to staff are good. The IT support is good if you are involved in front line operations, the technology is quite advanced.
Recently there have been redundancies due to the company restructures. This has not done anything to improve staff morale and some people are unhappy. The money being put into investments has been cut so new developments aren't very visible right now, but I do believe the company is on it's way to getting back to how it used to be.
We need clearer communication about the future of the company, the restructuring could have been handled better.
Good work life balance is ensured by solid HR policies, work from home is possible in a limited way as well. The people are nice, but not great. The offices are nicely done, the overall work atmosphere is very friendly and the salary is on par with what you'd get anywhere else in this industry. A decent corporate gig overall.
There are not many opportunities for career progression, and a limited set of opportunities for professional development. The senior management is a little stand-off-ish and doesnt like getting their hands dirty and actually talking to staff. Therefore they're not even at hand to appraise performance, and give credit where it is due.
Bad senior management that doesnt feel it should come down to the level of the normal employee.
