“Too much politics”

Folks I worked alongside nice and fun (those straight out of public accounting firms once qualified). Once you are employed there, it's quite secure (at least at head office location). Compared to public accounting, the hours are tolerable and there was NO weekend working at all within our planning department, so good for work / life balance.

To progress within the bank, it is VERY political and there is generally a lot of bureaucracy. I did not receive encouragement from my line manager regarding future opportunities within the team - basically, unless he leaves, there is nowhere for me to progress, which is a drawback of having a small team and a limited budget for promotions / headcount.

All the bankers!

“A mixed bag, you get out what you put in”

The staff I worked alongside were fantastic. I felt that I got the support I needed from my colleagues, everyone had a team-player attitude. Also a positive was the variety that my job role offered, it kept the job very interesting.

Negative attitudes amongst the management were problematic and I didn't always feel I could talk to management in confidence. The salary was reasonable, but expect to work above and beyond for it.

Working for certain managers who installed fear into their team as a bizarre way of leadership.

“Well structured organisation with obvious steps up the ladder”

A mobile working environment where you can easily cross over into different areas and teams so you can get to know lots of different aspects of the Bank. Managers at a senior level are easy to approach and you have regular meetings with your line manager. The teams are all generally well organised and workloads actively managed It is clear how you can progress within the company and there is good training available. Reasonable working hours

Some of the work can be very repetitive and boring.

Line manager meetings could lighten up a bit more!

“Awesome workplace. Amazing offices”

Facilities are great

Management are bullies. They pride themselves on disability awareness. Don't be fooled. They have none. No support or empathy. If there was a minus star, they would be getting it.

How management get away with it.
