“good company”

“Psychologically tough, but the rewards and opportunities are there”

Competitive pay for the care sector Good opportunities for extra hours Discounts (small) available for employees – as they say, every little counts!

The work is tough, you need to be able to manage a lot of stress There's no formal induction process – this is really needed – you get left in the lurch a bit having to learn it all by doing it Not enough processes in place to support new workers, there is quite a bit to take on board emotionally and mentally and it would be good to have some help with that, especially at the beginning

Qualified male staff wearing beautiful pink-coloured uniforms!

“Bad company to work for”

Nothing, soon as I get another job I'm off!

Unorganised, dreadful company to work for. They expect the earth for low pay, minimal holidays, and the office staff don't know what they are doing

They don't care about the employees, just need staff on low wages, anyone will do!

“Worst job, poor company”

It's not retail

VERY last minute changes to rotas e.g told you are to start work at 7am five minutes before. You will receive texts and calls at 5am. Many clients extremely rude and don't want you there if you are under a certain age Very little training. You are left to your own devices. Not much time to spend with people, no time in between for travel Shift patterns something like 7am-10am, then 12pm-1:30pm, then 3:30pm-6:30pm, then 7pm until 10pm. No relaxation in between because you know you've to be out again soon. Wear and tear on the car, not paid much at all for petrol. Staff in office don't know their arse from their elbow You're onl ... Staff in office don't know their arse from their elbow You're only paid about £3 per visit, sometime £1.50 if its a 15 minute one. No sick pay even though they make you do dangerous work that hurts your back e.g lifting of heavy people. They tell you just to read te person's care pan yet they are all out of date. more

Little adequate training, poor organisation leads to high stress which affects quality of care.

“Dont care about their care / support workers”

Nothing

The care / support workers haven't had a payrise in 5 years, the pay is rubbish for the work you do. You dont get any sickpay no matter how long you've worked for them. They tell lies to cover their backs, more like a dontcare uk.

Nothing

“TERRIBLE ! Worst mistake I have ever done was move to Care UK!”

It's sad to say but there honestly isn't anything good about working for Care UK.

The company is full of lies! They told me I have 4 hours shadow training and I have the right to ask for more if I don't feel comfortable.. This was not the case. I had 1 hour shadow training before getting sent off to service users home! I did not feel like I was comfortable enough to care for a vulnerable adult at that stage but this was pushed to one side. I spend £80 a week on travel (out of my own pocket) they don't help with petrol. They do not support your needs or take into consideration what you may be going through. They ring your phone non - stop from 5am if someone calls in sick begging you to see to whoever. They te ... The company is full of lies! I've been working for them since October and I've been working 7 days a week every week! When I ask for a day off that gets brushed to the side! I've honestly had enough and I am now searching for a new career! more

“Satisfactory”

Only a few staff are friendly and are willing to help

The working strategy is absolutely poor! Only one nurse working in the night, and sometimes left alone again during the day time with no one to help you out.

“Disorganised, poor management, very poor pay (if you get paid at all)”

The lovely clients and the experience I have gained.

No organisation whatsoever, the office staff are as useful as a chocolate teapot. Pay is dire and they pay below minimum wage as they do not pay for travel/petrol. Promised NVQ that never materialised. They do not value their Support Workers or Clients.

“Awful company to work for!”

The service users

Office staff do not have a clue, rude and no care for members of staff and service users whatsoever! I was regularly hung up on, threatened to do things and my mental health was suffering working for such an horrendous poor company! The staff were regularly signed off with depression from working for this shambles of a company. Poor very poor.

“Never work for this company again, haven't got a clue how to care! Rubbish”

Nothing

Rudeness of management and no manners towards staff, lack of support and training, management not interested.

My expectations, worse company I have ever worked for!!

“new employee”

Care Home is nice place to work

management is racist

no team work, communication poor

“Zero Hour contract and they mess you around - don't get paid for training”

Training

not getting paid for training

don't paid for traveling inbetween service users

“The worst boss in the world. Bad management. Bad communication between staff. No consideration for different service users. Bad pay.”

Ate you kidding me?

All of it.

Hilarious question. I think most home care agencies are run this way. Bring back care homes. We will all be better off.

“Modern slavery”

Having a choice to walk out of the job, and never returning!!

The stupid whip-lashing from the manager. I don't think she has emotions.

The whole structure. They make it stressful and unpredictable. Why would anyone keep putting up with that?

“JUST DONT!”

NOTHING!

I should have known when I went to the most chaotic interview ever that it wouldnt be a good place to work! Left waiting for an hour. Had interview with manager who couldnt even be bothered to find my application or cv so had no idea who I was. Waited after interview to be shown around, and I waited and waited. In the end I just left as no one knew what was going on. Once employed things did not improve. I worked for 10 months and the day I left I was still waiting for some kind of induction. I had no idea how to even get out if there was a fire. I was never shown a care plan or even where to look at one. I was never shown the computer system ... I had no idea how to even get out if there was a fire. I was never shown a care plan or even where to look at one. I was never shown the computer system properly or even how to work the fancy baths. In fact I never gave anyone a bath because staffing levels are so low residents are lucky to get a 5 min shower once a week. You cannot in any way care properly at care uk as you are not shown anything and staff levels mean the minimum care (and sometimes not even that) is all you have time to do. I had 3 different sets of management in the 10 months I was there. Most did not even bother to get to know the staffs names. You are treated like something nasty they have stepped in. "Care" is not a word that should be used in the same sentence as this company. One manager was doing the medication round and had to ask me 3 times who one of the residents was. They have no idea how to treat people with any kind of common decency or compassion. If you work here be prepared to become an anonymous nobody who works for minimum pay for 12 hrs straight and goes home on your knees as you will be doing the work of 2 or 3 people. You will never be spoken to by a manager unless it is to pick constant fault with something. I honestly cannot think of a single thing to recommend them to anyone. I have been a carer for 26 yrs but I have never worked in such a godforsaken place as this. more

See above!

“These people should not be aloud to care for animals let alone people”

Leaving

The management are bullies and only keen on getting more residents no matter what care is provided. The residents are fed rubbish and any staff questioning this care are bullied out of the work place.

That they are aloud to stay open and that cqc keep passing them !!

“Avoid !!!”

Going home after 12 hour shift

Your lucky if you get a break, management refuse to book agency when the care home is short staffed, all nurses and seniors called in when CQC visit so it looks as if that's how it always is, higher management rude , nurses are replaced with carers who have had a short training on medication admin, train in your own time , induction done by maintenance man, lowest pay legally they can give you, residents do not get the attention or care they need to high needs and over worked staff, stuff go straight from changing a pad and bathing someone into the kitchen to serve food, falsifying records, falsifying training, no respect for staff, which ... Save the trouble it's not worth it more

Cqc ratings are not a true reflection

“Really finding it difficult to say anything positive”

Leaving is the best decision

Deputy manager telling you she didn't know the answers to questions she asked you at interview

Won't appreciate staff

“Misleading residents activities on web site just blatent lies”

Leaving

Short staffed almost every shift

So many managers

“Senior Magagement”

You can work as many hours as you want no matter what it says on your contract

Senior Management come across as always being approachable and willing to listen yet when you try and speak with any senior management in head office its impossible

Why people actually stay so long.

“Activities says paisley court has karokee on saturday evening for residents and staff this is not true it doesnt happen”

You can work as many hours as you want

Poor leadership regularly short staffed

Senior management don't seem to care

“Why do senior management investigate why so many staff are leaving paisley court care home”

You meet some nice hard working people who care, can work as many hours as you want

Managers don't help out even when residents care suffers

Why head office haven't looked into the reason so many staff are leaving

“Care uk should be Dont Care uk”

Finding it difficult to be positive about Care uk

Managers who don't appreciate hard working staff

More interested in computer work being up to date than residents being given good care

“After 29yrs being a nurse”

So many good people who remain friends

A great care home in Liverpool is now a inadequate home. The manager and her deputy haven't got personal skills. An inadequate home

Management don't care

“underqualified managers and extreme racial discrimination, bad management”

Minus Zero

Racist, underqualified managers, they only fund white staff for courses even if they are new, ill treatment of staff, overworked and pushed to the brink, disorganised , poor communication, you are lucky if your pay is correct at the end of the month,

all senior managers are friends and know each other and are all white( where I work by the way)

“Geoff Edwards director”

This is a difficult one to answer, but you can work all the hours you want

Blatent lies told by management

Geoff Edwards says visiting homes and asking how he can help! He is a bully and his attitude is his way or no way. Never seen him visiting so how can he help! Tells staff he is willing to escort them of premises if things not done his way

“Rubbish terrible place”

Nothing

Where do u start. They do not care for their employees, they lie and basically cheat staff. They are the worse company any person can work for. They over work staff they leave them on floor to work on their own with a minimum of 10 residents its disgusting. Care UK needs to been under serious inpections on how they treat their staff. I could go on for hours.

How they treat staff and expect them to work under pressue.
