“Offers some good travel opportunities, but expect to be treated impersonally”

The opportunities to travel abroad are second to none. This job has provided me with many opportunities to see the world. The colleagues I have met along the way have been some of the most inspiring people in the industry. You really do feel you are at the fore front of cutting edge technology and the projects can be very exciting.

Expect to put in long working hours. The management is often done remotely, there is often no local office you can go to and therefore the management style can feel very impersonal, like you are just a number on a spreadsheet.

Having the teams dispersed all around the world. No local office to refer to.

“A very good large corporate to work with”

Great work life balance if youre in the right team. Management allows a working from home arrangements, which come as a great relief - not having to travel once in a while feels divine. The work environment itself is fun, and unlike what most people imagine IBM to be. Very intelligent peers and a very flexible working environment lead to a lot of learning opportunities, especially for a young professional. Stable job with a good salary and pay.

Some teams have the exact opposite experience, with horrible work life balance. The company can often seem a little too corporate-y, especially when you have to deal with the senior management repeatedly. The work timings can get very long, as the company expects a lot out of you.

Differing experience based on team.
