Reviews:

“Great place to learn and even better people”

I have learned loads KFC. Specifically - food safety, HACCP, customer service and more. Started as an assistant cashier and i am now assistant manager at KFC on Cowley road in Oxford. Great people too!

You don't get paid enough. Plain and simple.

Friday and Saturday night shifts in Oxford are always interesting. Lots of drunk punters and people looking for free chicken.

“Good experience but can't do it for too long”

Despite lack training, you gain plenty of experience of customer service and managing complaints. The stress level of working at KFC has made all my subsequent jobs seem like a stroll in the park!

Low pay which inevitably means high turnover of staff. Management don't seem to understand that busy periods needs more staff.

A guy I used to work with received a promotion but only got a 20p pay rise!!

“we do get free lunch for our breaks which is pretty good”

the free food lol

working at kfc is stressful you don't get enough pay for what you do especially how hard you work and how long you been there you definitely don't get enough pay

a lot of customers do think its easier than it achially is. it is but it is quite a hard job its funny if we get something wrong with the orders the customers really do complain

“Worst place I ever worked”

You get free chicken on your break

They avoid giving you breaks so they dont have to give you free chicken. Its a hard job. They dont pay you well at all. Everyone's nasty including the public.

The fact that their still open after all the shit they put their staff through.

“PURE FUCKING PISS TAKE”

The stupidity you receive from the 2 faced managers

the managers / TL - Team Leaders, they dont understand plain and simple english and then also have planned a meeting with me which they cancelled so i cant talk to them and also get a load of complaints whenever i attempt to express my concerns

i tried to point out a health hazard and was told "dont worry"

“Low Pay ' Poor Management ' Penny Pincher's ' Poor Training ' High Team Member and Management Turnover”

Free Lunch.

Be prepared to be treated with no respect.

The Company Feels your capable of doing 3 other peoples jobs.

“Good recognition culture, freedom within roles, better than expected”

The pay is generally pretty good. There is also a very good bonus scheme in place. The workforce is very mixed coming from all over, different places and backgrounds. When you are managing a restaurant you are not micromanaged and you can get on and work it according to your own requirements and style. I really appreciated the autonomy on the floor. Quality is important and is monitored

However I didn't like being moved to a store which was much further away. And I was not compensated for the loss of time or the extra money I had to lay out to get there.

Recognition culture

“Opportunities to learn alot with some, sad sexist sufferings with others.”

Some of the individuals that manage various branches who I came into contact with were wonderful people. Truly spectacular people with a big heart who are passionate about growth and development. I took this job as a part-time opportunity whilst at uni, it was the only job I was able to get quickly enough. I jumped straight in and was given plenty of support as I forced myself into progression but none from my own manager, my own team. I was given a pay rise almost immediately because I was multi-skilled and had great communication, but this isn't always enough.

I fell victim to serious segregation. I was the only woman in the staff of approximately fifteen Muslim males. I am also gay. Whilst I made no effort to parade this fact, it became evident when my partner met me from work on several occasions. I was the victim of homophobic comments, which were not appropriately dealt with. When I came to my manager and told him about this, he seemed disengaged and uninterested. The 'discussion' with the member of staff in question, did not ever take place. I became victim to sexual advances from the, then, assistant manager, who would place his hands around my hips and kiss my neck without any note ... I fell victim to serious segregation. I became victim to sexual advances from the, then, assistant manager, who would place his hands around my hips and kiss my neck without any note of consent. I would ask him to stop and that it was inappropriate, he would then guilt trip me into not telling anyone else this has happened. Most of the staff I worked with spoke little to no English. I was in a management position but being female I was essentially observed as useless across the board. Whilst working with them, I had seen a full staff turnover almost imminently as the male to female ratio fell lower and lower, leaving me the only one left. Whilst working there I witnessed serious cases of theft, (cash from tills, the safe etc.), violence. One member of staff attacked another, went into the office and urinated on their belongings because the staff member victimized was given a break before they were (despite their being no difference in shift pattern etc, merely the way in which it was requested), I witnessed walk-outs, screaming matches. The hygiene of the restaurant was constantly questionable. I would do the best I could to encourage people to behave and work in a manner that would keep customers safe- to no avail. I quit and was kept on the system working the occasional shift so the manager wouldn't lose his bonus. I reported this as fraudulent- no response, no apology, nothing. more

Some of the horrendous things that happened to me were reported. They were even investigated but if you find the investigator being a friend/relative of the perpetrator it is quite literally- a pointless venture. KFC is not a family-run business but it certainly behaves like one. I was completely shafted by the company, I would not recommend this particular company to anyone, particularly not a British female

“Not long quit my job at KFC..you couldn't pay me enough to go back!!”

Free food..although towards the end..they got stupid with the food and you couldn't even have a staff meal If you worked 4 and a half hours under.

The job is so stressful. I'd only have to walk in the place..see the massive queue with only one person serving on front AND packing.. And I'd feel instant stress. Always understaffed...so you're serving a huge queue to the door and you're all alone, and you have to do the serving, packing, doing ice creams, krushems and drinks all by yourself, as well as serving the next few people who are pissed off because of waiting too long. Vile customers, management team sit on their arse In the office whilst team members do all the work. You are treated like a slave and are expected to do 10 jobs at once. Stupid 8am staff meetings which just talks about stuff you already know. All the greasy equipment is hand washed and you may be the lucky bugger who has to wash it all up. One of the worst jobs is standing at window 1 in winter.. Freezing with rain flying through the window.. Shift runners don't take the fact you're freezing into conideration, they could swap who does that job half way through the shift to warm the poor person up who has been standing at the window for hours. more

You will do a 12 hour shift, and still only get a half an hour break!! I've found a job which treats their staff so much nicer and I'm so much happier

“Modern way of slavery”

Good place for making friends

You will be treated as a slave, the company doesn't care about u at all. Just using you

You can not book ur holiday u need! When the business is not busy, the company will make u to book ur holiday, so they decide when to book it for u. If you are on monthly sallary, on the cantract it says u have to work 45 hours per week, but they make u to work 70 hours and u will only get paid for 45 hours. So never ever work for kfc!!!!

“Corrupt”

Free chicken. Promotion can be easy if you put in the effort.

In every kfc stores around northumberland they expect staff to work past midnight without pay thus making it below minimum wage, I wouldn't accept that but some people can't stand up for them self. Team leaders don't get breaks and so lose 30 mins of pay each shift plus an hour if they work a close. They expect you to come in 15 mins unpaid befor your shift to set up your till. Although promotion can be achieved by hard work I have seen people get promoted from team member to manager for being pretty then failing terribly at it, it's not right to them or the people. How they get away with it and the staff take this from them because they they are made to think they will get fired if they don't. I worked there 5 years and took every break and got payed all my hours because I won't be bullied. Breaks my heart.

“Terrible, terrible place to work. (Part-time, UK)”

Free food on your break, it's quiet sometimes.

The managers are pig-headed and have serious communication problems, which led to me arguing with the manager as to whether or not I actually received a job offer. When I finally convinced him I went in and was forced to sit in the staff room for an hour while he got my uniform. There is no formal training process as far as I can tell, and you'll be forced onto the frying station because it's the easiest thing to do and nobody will take the time to show you something else. The managers will then likely pester you to do more hours during the week so you can learn faster. Nothing works, at least in the store I worked at. Machines will ... The managers will then likely pester you to do more hours during the week so you can learn faster. Nothing works, at least in the store I worked at. Machines will break down for seemingly no reason, such as the ice machine or fryers. The place is a pigsty, and on one occasion the area manager inspected the store and closed it early at 6PM because it was so filthy. Sometimes you'll run out of boxes for things like burgers and fries, forcing you to improvise, deliveries do not come for a long, long time meaning this happens more often than not. You'll also run out of key items like certain foods and toppings. The place is seriously understaffed, which having worked there I can understand, this is a place where nobody should work for any extended period of time. This also means that you'll have the workload of at least two people during your shift. The floors are incredibly slippery as oil and grease are frequently spilled everywhere, even with the proper footwear. The staff are very nice and are one of the few positives of this job. The pay is garbage considering the workload and stress, and the pay "rises" you receive for training in different positions isn't even worth the time. During my first month I was underpaid, and then received a letter from the agency that handles the pay saying that I had been overpaid by nearly £90, and that they would be deducting it from my next payslip. This was because I was never shown how to clock in, despite having aske more

The fact that I lasted for a month.

“Free food”

The good thing to working at KFC is I met some really nice people when I was on the drive thru

My bosses where slave labours we worked hard for minimum pay got our hours cut every day (saving them money so they didn't have to pay us for the full) they never called when cutting my shifts or giving them to someone else they didn't train new people they just put them on a station and left them to us to help. They let young women close (11:30) we left at 1-2 and all had to walk down dark alleys

I have nothing

“Worse place to work at EVER!!!”

Nothing !!!

KFC I was working at I was disgusted! With the kind of people I was working with it started off as the workers were being horrible and making group chats laughing at people and bullying us all at work, we told the manager he would tell us to ignore but now he have found out he was in the group chat with all of those people the group chat was called "top secret" and the manager him self wrote a racist rap about us and making fun out of us swearing and everything it is disgusting !

You will get bullied and the manager will be involved too
