You gain plenty of retail experience working at Monsoon Accessorize. Mostly good people working there, with some very supportive line managers and a buddy system for newbies. Lots of overtime, if that's your bag.
Hours were quite demanding. Often felt understaffed on the shop floor, with too many jobs for too few people. Many decisions that could have been taken on the spot referred up the chain of command to head office, which made everything very slow to change and adapt. Staff training programme needs to be developed as it's a bit sketchy at present.
You're expected to dress exclusively Monsoon, whether it suits your look or not!
Monsoon Accessorize truly is a global brand. With over 900 international branches in over 68 markets, coupled with over 420 in the UK, we are still growing. We offer our exquisite products that represent individuality, originality and strong global brand values. We continue to promote cross-cultural understanding, expanding organically across the globe and international development will no doubt remain an essential and inspiring area of our company. Born out of a passion for beautiful fabrics and exquisite clothing, our founder Peter Simon began the Monsoon story in 1972 on a stall on Portobello Road. Our first store opened on London’s Beauchamp Place in 1973. Monsoon focussed on clothes with an ethnic origin from faraway places, including unusual dresses from Afghanistan and countries en route. Our values and ethics are a huge part of what it means to work here, from how we treat our suppliers to developing our employees to enable incredible customer experiences. We're proud to support the Monsoon Accessorize Trust which helps disadvantaged women and children in Asia through education, healthcare and income generation projects. Today, the Trust is funding over ten projects benefiting some 10,000 women and children every year - our 2011 Charity Week raised over £80,000 alone.
