Reviews:

“Inspirational company to work for”

Pros: It is inspirational to work for a company that offers help and support to children suffering from autism. Naturally, staff members who have autistic children benefit a lot from working here as well. Everyone is in touch with the concept of autism and does their best to make life a little easier for those suffering from the disease.

Cons: The only problem is a lot of the cashflow of the company going into unnecessary expenditure, whereas it could have been used for much better purposes. There is a lack of management when it comes to keeping control over the money.

Unusual thing: There is a disconnection between staff and management at times that leads to terrible loss of important communication.

“Ex Service User living at Prospect House, Lancashire”

Lack of experience in dealing with High Functioning Autistics and not providing appropriate inhouse activities

I challenged the fact NAS prefers NAS staff to advocate for NAS Service Users, and at the request of another SU I arranged a independent Advocate, but the deputy for the first time actually removed DG from the house so he couldn't see the advocate. The same SU would sometimes brush my hair in one stroke and the deputy told him if he continued he would be arrested and charged with assault, I was completely unaware all that happened is DG stopped talking to me and over a few weeks I became frustrated causing DG to punch the wall which gave management to end my placement! Miss A Ponton refused to meet with other prospective supportive places ... Miss A Ponton refused to meet with other prospective supportive places if I attended, so she could give extremely negative feedback to ensure they would refuse to meet me and obtain 'my' opinion! more

After 6 months a follow on placement was found with Gloucestershire Autidm Services unfortunately I was extremely worried about moving and the day before I was leaving the new placement withdrew the offer and I was made 'homeless' by NAS!
