Pros: The company hours are fantastic, even less than the norm at most companies. There is a calm and collected atmosphere within all areas in the office and everyone gets along very well. Managers ensure that employees who show potential are given adequate opportunities to grow within the organisation.
Cons: There is a little insecurity when it comes to job stability. There are slow periods when almost no work comes in and then there is talk of lay-offs. This makes people nervous. However, this only happens sometimes. Overall, the pros outweigh the cons at QBE.
Unusual thing: The company started off in Australia and now has quite a few offices globally.
Good working environment, lots of opportunities to train, learn and progress. Hard work and dedication is recognized through the bonus scheme and through a clear promotions system. A great introduction to the world of insurance, with a market-leader in the business. Qualifications valued and support given to take them to the next level.
Work tends to be a bit dull -- not a lot of variety. Some staff are 'time servers' who have got themselves a position in a department and are content to just coast along. Internal communications could do with a makeover.
Company with global presence.
