I worked with some good colleagues on my team We got a good discount on all the clothes and there was a reasonable rate of pay Company has a solid brand and product and therefore there provides some job security
The managers did not value their staff and didn't treat them well We were not given our shifts in a timely fashion and no thought was put into the shift structure to make it workable for people as people, we were just working units to them. We ended up with horrible working patterns and long working days, where the shifts were often backed up one on another without much time to get home, eat, sleep and get up again. They were also changed at the last minute and we then had to forgo our breaks and stay late without being able to preplan anything. Work/life balance was impossible.
Heating during the winter in the store was completely inadequate – we used to freeze.
The people are great to work with. The pay is fair, but the benefits are great, and so are the discounts on the stores products. A good opportunity to polish your sales skills, as you get to meet a lot of people. You also get to learn from watching your co-workers do it right. They are very willing to help as well.
Surprising lack of training for a retail job. Breaks are almost non existant. Managers hard to talk to or approach. The management needs to learn to treat temps and distribution staff with more respect. The hours are long, and there are no real shifts.
Lack of training for a retail position is almost unheard of.
The staff are bitchy and the Managers rude and abusive, always telling you you're too slow and demanding you work extra hours, which they don't pay you for, and are rude and shout at you in front of customers! No written contracts and very little help when pay is wrong (and that's every month) Minimal training and always blaming you when you don't know what you're doing.
That Managers get away with the attitudes they have towards staff!! Their Health and Safety record is appalling!!
