It's a relaxed environment with a casual work gear uniform which allows you to wear jeans and boots. The work is simple but very physical so you do need some fitness, if not you can get fit with it! When the orders are at their peak you'll be at full stretch in all senses. Positive people to work with – we all manage to work together and do everything that needs doing and meet targets but nobody is a stress head about it and it's a fun atmosphere.
Systems crash all the time because the computers are out of date and can't handle the weight of the programmes. When the system is up and running then the network will go down! It's very frustrating. We keep having to work round this. Staff knew the job better than some of the supervisors and were having to basically make up the slack and do the job for them, and it makes you wonder why got promoted, maybe they just made a clerical error and got the wrong person!
Make sure you get comfortable work boots and all will go well!
Work atmosphere is very relaxed, perhaps the best I've ever been in. There are absolutely no restrictions on clothing, and what you wear to work. Laid back environment, but the work involves physical labour, which is good, cause you get a workout, and you have fun while doing it thanks to the great people at work.
The centralised database system is pathetic. The infrastructure in general, including heating and ventillation systems, as well as IT are all quite sub-par.
Good workplace that is sorely lacking in modern infrastructure and tools.
Great pay, caters for everyone, understands your needs.
You don't have set working days
They employ staff they believe will get along and make a good team.
20% discount for staff.
Managers and supervisors that stand together in a clique laughing and joking all day while you do everything. Upselling when it clearly infuriates most customers, living in fear of your job as you can and probably will be sacked on the spot for the slightest mistake, eg; not checking a £5 note with the magic pen..!
The play your part scheme where any employee is encouraged to secretly monitor your actions and write them down on a pad prior to scoring you on your performance. A company that encourages spying and backstabbing with a scheme that is clearly open to abuse.
I've work at screwfix just over a year now at Trentham lakes. I can honestly say that it is one of the best places ive worked.
Nothing ar all. Top notch!
