Work/life balance is good Salary is decent for the industry and staff package in general is generous – including use of company gym Good focus on staff training and development Diverse work locations
Top management are too busy with jobs that could be done by staff lower down the ladder – their time would be better spent on the bigger picture and on how to make the most of their staff – better talent management required and also better internal structures of communication are needed, especially between the different sectors and locations. They need to ensure that when things have been identified as wrong that these things are followed up on and fixed. We often end up in circles because inefficiencies and bad practices are identified but not addressed. Lack of professional dress code affects the atmosphere
Cycle to Work Scheme
Pros: Shell is a company that cares about its staff. It shows in the excellent facilities, training and development courses, fantastic offices etc. There is a lot to look forward to over the years to come as the company is continuously developing new and innovative services and products. Staff grow with the company and all reap the same benefits of every success.
Cons: Some of the middle management staff do not grasp all of the opportunities available to them. This affects the company negatively. Where there could have been growth and an opportunity to explore further technologies, there is none.
Unusual thing: The main office has a company swimming pool and also a gym for employees.
