Provides a source of income while you're studying to be a teacher/pay off your loan for a PCGE. Lots of different placements, lots of variety. Some good training initiatives, such as summer institute.
Huge workload, with little meaningful support from Teach First. Pay is pretty low and the hours (and the travel to far off schools) can takeover your life. Many short-term placements, so there's not that much security. Some of the placement schools are very demanding and unwelcoming. Constant turnover of staff, so very little consistency in approach to, e.g. admin.
Brightest stars get the chance to be 'Teach First Ambassadors'
A full salary whilst you train (higher than other salaried routes), a fully funded teaching qualification (PGDE - worth double the credits of a PGCE), outstanding support from Teach First in school, excellent career progression opportunities, access to coaching, mentoring and internship opportunities
The hours can be long (as with any teacher training programme), some schools can be challenging
Fair pay shouldn't be a benefit!
