“Can learn a lot of foreign exchange, high staff turnover”

IT is managed well Learning a lot about foreign exchange operations

Training and development is poor, abandonned with a manual and expected to get on with it. Pay rises are linked to achieving impossible targets High staff turnover, many just walking out – this means we never know whether we are coming or going as our rotas get changed at the last minute. Life-work balance is affected as it becomes difficult to plan the week Long processes to start and finish the day which were not mentioned at the job interview and are not included as part of our working day, therefore not remunerated – a free service from me to the company! This policy really grates after a time, makes me feel like the company is just squeezing me for all they can get and doesn't care about me. Very demotivating. more

Company doesn't pay me for the time to open up and shut down the bureau!

“Good work culture, not too great otherwise”

The management is surprisingly good, and fairly competent. Theyr willing to listen to their employees issues and concerns. They make themselves available to you. They push you to achieve more. The work culture is very positive, and aspiratinal. Working hours are flexible. The people are pretty okay as well.

The salary is below what you would get at any competitor, and this is the main problem with this company. They lose talent very fast on account of this and are therefore unable to maintain stable teams. The work itself is boring, so overall its not the best place to work.

Bad pay is really hurting them.

“Asks everything and gives little”

There are few, if any positives to working for Travelex.

Training is borderline nonexistent, and employees are largely train themselves on the job. Facing customers when untrained and under-prepared results in staff facing the wrath of the numerous rude, impatient, entitled and aggressive customers. Hours are irregular and involve working at awkward times. Having a life outside of work is made incredibly difficult by frequent evening, weekend and holiday work, as well as covering for absent colleagues; staff are never consulted about this, and are simply expected to be available. Working ten or eleven hour days is common, as well as late day ends followed by early starts the next morning. Travele ... Working ten or eleven hour days is common, as well as late day ends followed by early starts the next morning. Travelex is largely a sales environment, and staff are expected/pressured to sell products to customers with little or no interest in purchasing them. Stores are set frequently absurd and unattainable targets, and daily emails are sent around all stores detailing progress made towards said targets, presumably in an effort to push stores to compete against one another. Wages are little above the national minimum wage, and certainly do not compensate for the stress, pressure and hours involved. Despite the expectation for staff to be available for weekends, holidays and cover, there is no financial remuneration for working these hours. more

Bureaus are obviously understaffed, and the company seems to have a high staff turnover, presumably owing to conditions and poor pay, which pays less than jobs that involve less skill.
