Love the staff package for travel, lots of free flights which are like currency with colleagues as they can be exchanged for flights they have, so you can always manage to find the trip you want or swap round so that you can travel on the same flight as a pal. You also get to stay in 5-star hotels around the world. Because you end up socialising with your work colleagues you make loads of friendships.
Hardly ever see my home and always feel exhausted from the continual jet-lag. After a while it starts to wear you down The worst months are when you are on stand-by.

Virgin is a cut above the rest. Awesome people, amazing leadership (Branson is a legend!) and great opportunities to progress within the business. I started as cabin crew and now work on the ground in Heathrow and i couldn't be happier!
Singapore Airlines and Emirates generally pay better (we're on a par with BA i think)

Probably the most amazing thing about working here is the travel benefits, you will never get access to so many travelling opportunities, and meet so many people as you will with Virgin Atlantic, who are very prooud of how they take care of their employees. The company has its heart in the right place and fights stagnant thinking and tries to stay modern, active and creative. Good vibe and atmosphere from everyone in the team.
A lot of outsourcing going on, especially since 9/11, things started to change quite a bit and cost become a much bigger factor that it was before to the airline.
Lively, active brand
The people you work with are definitely the best thing about working at Virgin Atlantic. Well it's still a decent brand name to put on your CV, but it used to carry more kudos than it does these days, and it looks to me like it's going to be less impressive going forward as well You do get great staff travel benefits as you might expect – you can switch and swap your free flights with other staff to get the trips you want at better times for you
Company is not a feel-good place at the moment. A lot of the staff are not happy. It's down to power-playing and the procedures. All the managers seem to be generalists and don't really seem to have the in-depth expertise that's required to sort things out intelligently. Lots of high-falutin' talk but not enough action to back it up. Our competitors are overtaking us and management are either not aware or don't care.
