Thales UK have an exciting opportunity for an motivated and talented FPGA Design Engineer to work within Defence Mission Systems (DMS), specifically our Maritime Mission Systems (MMS) business unit; a team dedicated to working on some of the next generation, cutting edge sonar technologies.
We’re looking to recruit a motivated individual with experience developing in FPGA; you will be working with our highly talented Digital and Analogue development team in Cheadle (Greater Manchester), as well as having the opportunity to collaborate with other sites and other UK specialists.
As a Digital Engineer, you will work as part of a dynamic and integrated team, working towards the programme and build of FPGA Solutions across a variety of projects within the group. With the support of other members of the team, you will be responsible for specialised electrical and electronic design tasks associated with design for the subsea environment.
Key Responsibilities & Duties: Reporting into the FPGA Team Leader, the role may include, but not be limited to the following activities:
* To develop and agree a development plan with the team leader and then take responsibility for following the development plan and requesting assistance as needed. * To carry out design activities in a team environment with other engineers. * Work collaboratively with production and procurement to produce cost effective, easy to manufacture design solutions. * Provide support to the preparation of detailed estimates and bids. * Provide support to production as required. * Trials and integration support as required. * Provide off-site support as required.
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
We are committed to hiring individuals with a “can do” and positive attitude with willingness to learn and improve on skills and knowledge. You will be working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment so it organisational skills and an ability to communicate and guide business decisions will be key. We are looking for an individual with some of the following key credentials:
* FPGA Architecture Design and Development (Xilinx, Altera, VHDL, Verilog). * Familiarity/Appreciation of D0-254/SIL1 Designs * Digital and Analogue Electronic Design * Robust Electronic Engineering Skills and ability. * Good interpersonal skills * Proactive “can-do” mentality * Microsoft Office Suite Experience
