ITV News Meridian - Onscreen Journalist

Location - Whiteley

Permanent (Part time, five days to be worked across a two week period)

Can you deliver engaging, compelling and original journalism on a daily basis, on-air and online, to the audience we serve in the South East?

We have an opportunity for a first class journalist to join the award-winning at ITV News Meridian based at Whiteley, Nr Southampton.

As an Onscreen Journalist you will be a key part of our newsgathering team using your excellent editorial judgement to come up with great ideas to film, edit and present across the region.

As our Onscreen Journalist, you will have a solid background in journalism and reporting and have experience of working within a busy television newsroom. You will have a proven track record producing creative journalism; delivering reports to the highest possible production values.

We are a multi-platform operation so you will be enthusiastic about developing an online presence through our web sites and via social media.

You will be a first class communicator with the ability to build relationships with contacts to bring in original news stories and develop high-profile running stories. You must be a self starter who regularly contributes original ideas.

We will expect you to be willing and enthusiastic about developing your camera and editing skills to compliment the newsgathering and story-telling skills you already possess.

A good level of physical fitness is required due to the weight of the equipment needed in this role. The successful candidate will be asked to undergo a pre-employment medical check to ensure their fitness to perform the job and to identify any pre-existing medical conditions that may be exacerbated by carrying a reasonably heavy camera and kit.
