Senior Transport Planner / Modeller

AECOM’s transport planning and modelling team in Bristol is committed to solving real-world transport problems. Whether that is delivering solutions for our local clients in the South West to address the impact of developments on the transport network or finding solutions to complex traffic issues on some of the UK’s largest construction projects (including the A303 at Stonehenge). Our team does everything to imagine a better solution and to deliver it.

An ideal Senior Transport Planner or Senior Transport Modeller will come from an analytical background, such as mathematics, economics, geography, or engineering and will have experience in transport planning and possess key responsibilities listed below.

As a Senior Transport Planner or Senior Transport Modeller, your responsibilities will include the followin g:

  • Mentor graduates, share your knowledge and check tasks undertaken by your colleagues;

  • Project management of smaller projects, including cost control and client liaison;

  • Contribute to and attend industry events and conferences;

  • Manage your and others’ time and deliver successful projects; and

  • Keep clients happy and engaged.

Minimum Requirements

  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant analytical subject, however, we also recognise the value of a range of wider qualifications and experience.

  • As a Senior Consultant you will be expected to mentor graduates, impart your wisdom and check tasks undertaken by your more junior colleagues

  • You should have the ability to handle the project management of smaller projects, including cost control and client liaison

  • Proven analytical, data manipulation or statistical skills using appropriate software;

  • You will have knowledge and experience in transport modelling and forecasting and experience in appraisal and evaluation of transport proposals;

  • You have used and have good knowledge of simulation software packages e.g. SATURN, PARAMICS, CUBE, EMME, VISUM, TUBA and spreadsheet modelling;

  • You are good at managing your time to ensure you meet project deadlines;

  • You need to have strong technical and report writing skills;

  • You should be able to explain technical concepts to others, especially our graduates and anyone else who may ask;

  • Good knowledge and familiarity with key guidance documents, such as WebTAG; and

  • Flexibility to travel to other AECOM and client offices, depending on project requirements.
