Crest Nicholson Midlands are now looking for a Managing Surveyor, based at our regional office in Tamworth, Staffordshire. You will initially be focusing on managing a small team of Surveyors and the Housebuilding lifecycle from pre-operational stages of multiple projects, valuations and procurement through to final account settlements. Working closely with the Buying, Estimating, Technical, Development and all other regional teams will be crucial to your success as a senior member of the team expected to sustain great working relationships and communication between teams.

Key elements of the role include:

Identify & assess suitable subcontractors for procurement purposes.
Using the appropriate tender documentation, effectively & efficiently procure tenders, negotiate & let subcontracts within required timescales.
Provide cost-data feedback to Regional Estimating Department.
Administer & manage the financial aspects of the development, including placing orders, controlling expenditure & payments to Subcontractors including the valuation of variations.
Preparation of standard & non-standard Purchaser Extras quotations.
To review & forecast latest cost estimates & report same against budget at monthly cost review meetings.
Involvement in the design phase of new projects, including the review of groundworks designs.
Management & development of subordinates as maybe directed.
Working with external employers such as Housing Associations including carrying out
valuations, cash flow forecasts, obtaining warranties, etc.
Working with other disciplines to seek continuous product development & value engineering.

Skills and attributes required:

Proven Senior Surveyor within the Housebuilding industry, ideally with people Management experience
Strong subcontractor vetting and management of performance and contracts
Good ability to manage tender negotiations and inclusions
Excellent attention to detail
Able to manage and support your team with daily and project work
Great relationship building skills, able to build rapport and create an energetic team environment
Enthusiastic, motivated and positive nature and attitude
Excellent problem solving skills with the ability to take the initiative and make decisions
Confident handling difficult situations with financial and people related issues
Strong IT skills with Accountancy packages (ideally Agresso), Word, Excel, Outlook, etc
RICS qualified and with current membership
