We are seeking to appoint a Senior Minerals and Waste Planner to join our existing Minerals and Waste team which comprises specialist planners and environmental managers – the new team member would ideally be based in Chesterfield, although our Nottingham, Leeds, York, Newcastle, Birmingham and Altrincham offices are also options

As a Senior Minerals and Waste Planner, you will assist with the delivery of a wide variety of planning and environmental consultancy services in relation to minerals and waste management developments. This includes the preparation of planning applications, negotiation of conditions/ agreements, EIA and environmental appraisals, assessment of alternatives, development plan representations, enforcement work, mineral safeguarding, stakeholder consultations, public exhibitions and information, site selection, appraisal and promotion, development feasibility, design and appeals.

Assist with the delivery of technical planning and environmental outputs as referred to above.
Liaise with clients, internal specialist environmental and design teams and, where necessary, sub-contractors.
Work in partnership with other members of the Environment and Planning team (both within the home office and across the UK), delegating activities to staff as applicable.
Assist with the monitoring and management of project budgets.
Assist with business development initiatives and preparation of technical and fee proposals.
Participating in internal and external meetings.
A degree in a relevant discipline.
Relevant post-graduate degree an advantage.
Recent and relevant experience in minerals and waste management planning.
The ideal candidate will be a planner who specialises in minerals and waste management with planning and EIA experience, with around 5 years of post-qualification experience, including work in either industry or consultancy (or both).
Full Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI) or an equivalent professional town planning organisation or working towards chartership.
Excellent report writing and oral communication skills, commercial awareness.
Able to work on own initiative and under pressure.
Competent in the use of Microsoft Office including Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Project.
Sound knowledge of UK planning policy and legislation and, preferably a working knowledge of EIA legislation.
Client focused with good interpersonal skills and collaborative working approach with a high level of commitment to quality.
Full current driving licence.
Excellent team player who has a proactive and positive attitude and someone who is willing and able to assist delivery of our minerals and waste management planning and EIA services that we provide to our private and public sector clients. This position is within an established, friendly and professional team.
