We are looking for a highly motivated professional who is seeking an exciting opportunity to work in a busy and supportive, multi-disciplinary team. Your role in this new post will mainly be to provide ecology advice to planners, agents and members of the public on planning applications. The advice will cover Habitats Regulations Assessments, protected species and biodiversity objectives and include liaison with statutory agencies and other external organisations. The successful candidate will also advise on ecology related planning policy, input to biodiversity projects and help to review the ecology team’s ways of working in line with recent changes in legislation and national initiatives.
With an enthusiasm for the natural environment and excellent communication skills, you will have a degree or equivalent in ecology or related environmental discipline, experience of dealing with ecology issues in a planning context, a thorough knowledge of national policy and best practice guidance, and good IT skills, including MS office and GIS.
