Golder
has a new opportunity for a **PrincipalConsultant (Hydrogeologist or Contaminated Land)** to join our **Environmental Business Unit** (Site
Characterisation and Remediation Group) on a Permanent basis **.**













**Key duties and responsibilities include:**













**TechnicalLeadership:** To
provide technical leadership of the full project cycle from initiation, through
planning and execution to close. To
include technical and financial management of medium to high complexity projects
typically associated with the management of land in a transactional or
regulatory context and typically in the nuclear, manufacturing or
infrastructure sectors.







**TechnicalReview:** Technical
review and ownership of deliverables.







**ClientRelationship Management** : To manage, maintain and develop
excellent relationships with clients. To
display a broad understanding of client needs and to use this knowledge to
cross-sell services and to deepen client relationships.







**Leadershipand Mentoring** : To display sound judgement in decision-making
and to be a visible leader that inspires junior and senior colleagues. To provide mentoring / coaching and training
to colleagues.







**BusinessDevelopment** : To identify and win new opportunities aligned
with the business development strategy. To use influence and experience to offer
innovative solutions to client problems.



**Skills, Qualifications, and Experience:**













· A degree and MSc (or equivalent) in a relevant
subject and experience that is demonstrably akin to that gained in a
consulting environment experience














· Chartership (or equivalent level of professional
qualification) relevant to land contamination or hydrogeology (e.g. Chartered
Scientist, Chartered Geologist) will be considered very favourably. Specialist
in Land Condition (SiLC) desirable or willingness to work towards.













· Strong broad background and experience in full
cycle of land contamination and groundwater projects, from desk study through
characterisation with focus on controlled waters/water environment and human
health risk assessment.













· In-depth knowledge and practical experience of
implementing UK legislation relating to land ownership transfer, environmental
compliance, and management of land affected by contamination, including
environmental permitting, contaminated land, waste, and planning regimes. Experience of regulatory engagement and
interaction would be beneficial.













· Skilled in the design and management of site
characterisation projects supporting the development of Conceptual Site Models,
including intrusive investigations, field testing, laboratory analysis and preliminary
risk assessments.













· Working knowledge of qualitative and quantitative
risk assessment methodologies for human health, controlled waters and the
environment including CLEA, Remedial Targets Methodology, ConSim etc.













· Managed projects with a value up to £200k, and
multi-disciplinary teams located remotely from the home office.













· Experience of client relationship management, having
developed and maintained long-term working relationships with clients.













·
Experience in leading and writing technically
and commercially sound proposals based on an excellent understanding of clients'
requirements.













· Work with a high level of accuracy and excellent
attention to detail.













· Ability to work well both independently and as part
of a team, with a strong focus on team success.
Understand the importance of delegation.













· Excellent time management and organisational
skills.













· Excellent communication skills, both written and
verbal, in English.













· Willingness to travel in the UK with a relevant
driving licence.
