Here at Wilko, our Quality team are looking for a Senior Development Technologist Textiles and Home Storage Solutions to join them based at our Head office in Worksop.

The Role



Here at Wilko a Senior Development Technologist is responsible for ensuring products within a specific trading category are consistently legal, safe and fit for purpose, whilst maintaining good value for money, brand integrity and customer confidence.



Here are just some of the things you’ll be involved in




  • Working closely with product designers and suppliers to launch products in line with critical path, which are safe legal and fit for purpose, maintaining the relevant documentation and in line with corporate policies.

  • Conducting technical benchmarking to understand the market using this knowledge to create product specifications.

  • Conducting product assessments to enable products to be brought to market that meet Wilko’s stringent quality requirements.

  • Support the selection, approval and ongoing improvement of suppliers and factories. visit, monitor and measure supplier compliance, complete technical scorecards and manage the remediation or exit of poor performing suppliers.

  • Maintain an external network of technical contacts to ensure that there is sound understanding of current and emerging technical issues.

  • Deliver quality strategy and achieve shared brand, procurement and trading objectives. Take responsibility for YOY reduction in customer complaints, faulty returns and on-line customer reviews.

  • Identify opportunities to deliver value through sustainability into Wilko products, maintain due diligence documentation ensuring they are accurate and up to date.



What we need from you



We need someone who has experience in a quality and technical environment. We need this along with:




  • Experience or knowledge of manufacturing and an understanding of regulations, trends, technical developments, factory processes and capabilities

  • Sound technical competence and demonstrable ability to transfer knowledge between product sectors

  • Understanding of the customer, the business and the wider market.

  • Sound understanding of the manufacturing industry with quality systems and social compliance auditing knowledge.

  • Ability to understand, interpret and apply technical due diligence documentation e.g. manufacturing standards, test certificates, product specifications etc.

  • Excellent understanding of product legislation, quality management systems and awareness of auditing principles and ethical trading.

  • Ability to analyse and evaluate data and information and use this to take appropriate action.
