Apply for this job

We are seeking to appoint clinical tutor to work part-time to provide support for our Director of Training for Children and Young People's (CYP) programmes in the delivery of CBT/CBT-informed graduate and postgraduate certificate and diploma programmes for the Children and Young People's Mental Health programme.

This is a unique opportunity to take a central role in the delivery of a major national programme for workforce development in children and young people's mental health. The successful candidates will be involved with the delivery and development of the new Education Mental Health Practitioner programme and linking it closely with our wellbeing practitioner programme. The post may also include input into other CYP programmes such as CBT and Parent Training, and will involve teaching, marking, and contributing to the development of the CYP programmes.

The Graduate/Postgraduate programmes provide training in the delivery of evidence-based CBT and CBT-informed interventions for working in healthcare settings and in schools and colleges as part of our suite of CWI training programmes across the central and southern regions.

The post holder will join a supportive and enthusiastic team working in a research active School of Psychology and Clinical Language Sciences. This role offers a wide range of opportunities to develop your career and to work at the cutting edge of linking theory, research, teaching and clinical practice.

The post can be taken up as a secondment or University contract and is fixed term for two years.

You will have:

  1. Excellent clinical skills reflected in an ability to engage with clients and to link the science and practice of evidence-based psychological interventions for children and young people.
  2. Excellent teaching skills demonstrated by feedback from those previously taught.
  3. Ability to mark effectively and consistently and to tight schedules, and to use standardised measures appropriately.
  4. Exceptional ability to communicate the theory and practice of evidence-based psychological therapies. The post must be able to communicate with a range of project stakeholders at all levels from students to senior NHS and University managers, and work effectively as part of a team.
  5. Ability to understand where difficulties may arise with implementing evidence-based psychological therapies and working with stakeholders and to troubleshoot these difficulties.
  6. Working knowledge of MS Office packages.
  7. Ability to critically evaluate own clinical and teaching work.
  8. Exceptional organisational ability.
