Learning Support Assistant - Salford

Do you have experience of working with young people that require extra support? Are you looking for a new role starting in September 2019?

Teaching Personnel are working alongside a Secondary School in the Salford area to recruit an experienced Learning Support Worker for a 12 month position starting September 2019.

  • Part-time role available from September 2019
  • 12 month position from September 2019 till the end of the academic year
  • 3 days per week
  • Supporting students on a 1:1 basis who have a variety of learning difficulties including dyslexia and dyspraxia
  • Earn up to £350 per week, dependent on experience

Working as a Learning Support Worker, you will be:

  • Working alongside class teachers supporting students aged 11-16 in classes
  • Supporting students with learning difficulties, such as dyslexia, who can show signs of occasional challenging behaviour
  • Expected to incorporate inventions to aid the student's learning and behaviour with the hopes of raising their progress and attainment
  • Assisting students on a 1:1 basis when they are withdrawn from various subjects to attend intervention sessions that the prospective candidate should be able to plan and deliver

To be considered for this Learning Support role it is required that you have experience of working with individuals who have learning difficulties as these skills will be highly transferrable. In particular, our client school would like candidates that are familiar with students that are known to show challenging behaviour alongside their learning difficulties and therefore, require extra support with their studies. With over 900 pupils, the school is in need of extra staff to guarantee these students are supported and that teachers also have the help they require in the classroom.

As a Learning Support Worker within our client school, responsibilities will include working 1:1 with students that require additional support due to their learning difficulties. Further responsibilities incorporate supporting the class teacher and delivering intervention sessions to suit a particular student.

Our client is based in Salford and can be accessed via the M60 and A580 from surrounding areas for those who have their own transportation. For non-drivers, there are several forms of public transport with links to Swinton, Eccles and central Manchester.
