We are looking to recruit a Switchboard Supervisor to help coordinate a speedy, efficient and courteous operation of a Hospital Switchboard, Helpdesk and Information Desk as well as Radio/paging equipment as required.

In this role, you will demonstrate a professional experience of the Hospital to callers with a helpful attitude towards all queries received and assume a supporting role to the Communications Manager.

Main responsibilities
  • Assist all callers and internal users of the systems in a helpful and courteous manner.
  • Operate the radio/paging system equipment as required.
  • Be fully conversant with and utilise all extension and switchboard features in efficient handling of all calls and callers.
  • Liaise with all levels of staff within the Trust and members of the public in general.
  • Respond to “CRASH” (Cardiac Arrests) calls, Fires, Bomb calls, Major Incidents and any other notified emergencies in accordance with the Trust and Departmental procedures.
  • Promote by example and help to maintain service levels and standards within the Department especially in Customer Care and speed & quality of answer.
  • Maintain formal and informal communication with Trust Managers related to service activities/working group.
  • Emergency 2222 call records to be scanned on a daily basis and prepared monthly for the Resus Officers.
  • Dealing with complaints (internal as well as external).
  • Rotas to be up to date and vacancies covered to ensure a smooth running of the Communications departments.
  • Helpdesk and Information desk duties are inclusive of the role.
Ideal candidate
  • Similar Switchboard, Helpdesk, Reception experience
  • Education/Qualifications - Good Level of general education.
  • Keyboard Skills, Excellent verbal communication skills, able to maintain a calm courteous and efficient manner at all times, experience of working on a hospital switchboard.
  • Strong customer focus
  • Team worker, practical with a common sense approach, friendly, considerate, approachable and reassuring, honest & patient.
  • Work Related Circumstances - Must be able to work flexibly, must be willing to do reasonable additional hours as and when required.
