The day to day duties include feeding the animals, food preparation for the animals, assisting with the medical treatment of the animals, providing a high standard for their welfare and accommodation. To assist with the training of new volunteers and those on work experience, ensuring the standards are maintained. Other duties are shared with all staff ie stock checking of the tea room, assisting with hay making, muck spreading, maintaining a good standard of hygiene and tidiness of the yard, stables, Tuckshop, toilets and Tea room. Also, the occasional maintaining of the foliage surrounding the sanctuary, upkeep of the private drive into the sanctuary and painting of the stables.
Administrative duties will include answering general emails, processing adoptions and paypal orders and, in time, to oversee record keeping of petty cash which is maintained on a weekly basis, record keeping of outside advertising and fundraising.
On occasion you will be required to assist with other duties where appropriate off the site as requested by Management or the Charity founder, for example the medical treatment of a fostered goat or taking a goat to a veterinary practice.
You may be required to work evenings to assist with putting the goats to bed. This is usually two hours before sunset therefore the times will change with the daylight hours.
You will be required to assist with the open days which are every day, 11am to 4pm, from April until the end of October, then from November to March the hours are 11am-3pm. Duties in relation to open days include: the setup of the tea room, count up of the daily takings, meeting and talking to members of the public, serving in the tea room and close down of the tea room.
