Marketing and Innovation Function

The Marketing & Innovation (M&I) function is accountable for the overall growth strategy of the Rentokil Initial Group across the Pest and Hygiene Categories. M&I is accountable for all Marketing and Innovation activities, including branding and marketing communications, proposition development and deployment, product and service innovations, as well as the science and regulatory programmes.

The M&I Digital Marketing Team is responsible for the development, launch and management of all digital marketing activities - customer experience/journeys across all digital platforms, digital content marketing, paid advertising, digital conversion optimisation, public domain websites, social marketing and the digital technical platform.

The Digital Marketing Team has three core accountabilities; ensuring a ‘fit for purpose’ digital estate aligned with and supporting RI’s business strategy, principally around driving organic growth; maximising the return on our digital marketing investment across all digital channels and evolving and maintaining our current digital platform and web estate.

Within the Digital Marketing Team there are 5 areas of activity spanning Search Marketing, Customer Experience, B2B In/Outbound Marketing, Digital Projects and Deployment and Digital Programme Management, delivered by 23 full time colleagues.

The M&I Brand and Marketing Communications Team is responsible for the delivery of the Digital Content Marketing Plan aligned with RI’s Search Strategy and identified customer needs along the purchase funnel. The team is also supported by an internal IT Development Team.

Senior Digital Marketing Lead - Purpose of the Role

The purpose of the role is to ensure alignment across the Digital Marketing Strategy and the Regional/Local digital initiatives.

The Senior Digital Account Manager will act as the gatekeeper for the Digital Marketing Team and the primary point of contact with the Regional/Local Marketing Teams. The role-holder will be accountable for all digital marketing service delivery and will be responsible for Regional/Local stakeholder management.

Working with the Digital Marketing Director and the wider team, the role-holder will facilitate the day to day execution of a significant transformation of our digital estate; which will provide a platform to support the future growth of our digital brand presence and ultimately drive organic revenue growth.

In addition to facilitating this transformation, the role-holder will liaise with Regional/Local Marketing Teams to prioritise their digital initiatives and coordinate delivery by the Digital Marketing Specialist Teams and external agencies to the agreed timelines.

As part of the role, the Senior Digital Account Manager will work with and across the internal Digital Marketing and wider M&I and IT teams.

Stakeholders & Resources

People: Accountable for Digital Marketing service delivery across all projects with an ability to deliver significant change by working across matrixed functional specialist and business teams.

Financial: No budget accountability.

Internal: Liaise with Regional Marketing Directors, Local Digital Marketing Managers, Digital CRO and V4 Product and Deployment Manager, Head of Search Marketing, Senior Marketing Manager - Customer Experience and where required external consultants and agencies.

Key Accountabilities:

The Senior Digital Account Manager will have the following high level accountabilities:

Stakeholder Management and Governance

  • Act as the primary gatekeeper between the M&I Digital Marketing Team and Regional/Local Marketing Teams with overall accountability for all digital marketing service delivery to the local marketing teams.
  • Work with the Digital Marketing Director to ensure Regional/Local buy-in around the proposed Digital Marketing Strategic plan.
  • Day to day management of internal and external stakeholders to include Regional/Local Marketing Directors, the M&I leadership team and consultants/third party agencies.
  • Manage the expectations of the Regional/Local Marketing Teams and ensure that we are focused on delivering the projects with the greatest business benefit; where required escalate any deviations from the agreed plan to Digital Marketing Director.
  • Accountable for the implementation and on-going management of the Digital Governance model.

Strategic Alignment and Lead Project Delivery

  • Lead and facilitate the day to day execution of the Digital Marketing strategic projects such as reducing our web estate and using digital channels to build our B2B brand.
  • Liaise with Regional/Local Marketing Teams to ensure that all digital activities are aligned with the digital marketing strategic direction - prioritise all agreed activities and ensure that we have the available internal and external resources to deliver within the agreed timelines.
  • Coordinate the delivery of these projects with the internal Digital Marketing Specialist Teams.
  • Key contributor to the definition of the future marketing technology stack to ensure that the digital platform and marketing technology stack meets Regional/Local market requirements.

Regional/Local Best Practice Sharing

  • Lead quarterly regional reviews to facilitate a common understanding of digital priorities and share best practice across regional markets.
  • Lead and organise Regional/Local Digital Marketing workshops to support the delivery of the Digital Marketing Strategic Pillars and the prioritised Regional/Local digital initiatives.
  • Facilitate the sharing of regional and local digital best practice to enable rapid adoption of internal best practice.

Project Prioritisation and Resource Allocation

  • Support the Digital CRO and V4 Product and Deployment Manager in developing and executing project plans to deliver against the Digital Marketing Strategic pillars and the prioritised local initiatives.
  • Prioritise and coordinate all digital marketing activities across the M&I Digital Marketing Team and external consultants/agencies.
  • Working with the local markets, agree and prioritise Business as Usual, BAU, digital activities to be delivered by the M&I Digital Marketing Team; work with the Digital Marketing Team to ensure that we have the necessary resources to deliver to the agreed timelines.


Key Competencies

  • Proven track record in global stakeholder management and delivering complex digital marketing projects.
  • Commercially focused with an ability to balance commercial outcomes and customer needs.
  • Excellent communication skills and fluent presenter; with an ability to influence and persuade key business stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated ability to work and build relationships with a variety of stakeholders across all levels in the organisation.
  • Highly effective at working across specialist teams to deliver key programmes of work.
  • Self-starter with the ability to self-manage; ability to work under pressure and to deliver a high quality product within a tight time frame.
  • Positive approach and resilient in the face of obstacles and competing requirements.
  • Appetite for continuous learning and development and develops self and others.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience as a Digital Account Manager/Director in a Digital Marketing Agency 'or demonstrable experience managing, coordinating and facilitating services across departments and functions to internal stakeholders would be a distinct advantage.
  • Demonstrated experience in delivering complex global programmes in a highly matrixed European or Global organisation.
  • Experienced in working with ambiguity in a fast paced reactive environment.
  • Some understanding of paid search, SEO, CX and UX.
  • PRINCE qualified or similar.
  • Degree qualified is preferred.
