We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Planner or Associate Director, with 3-6 years’ experience to join our expanding and busy Infrastructure Planning and Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) team in London. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience and/or can demonstrate a solid interest in Environmental Impact Assessment.

Lichfields is the pre-eminent planning and development consultancy in the UK and is recognised as one of the ‘Best Places to Work in Property’ by Property Week magazine. We are looking for bright, creative and committed people who can deliver high quality assessments for our clients.

We are owned by an employee benefit trust and run and managed for the benefit of its staff with no obligations to external shareholders. Our profits are reinvested into the business and shared with staff through bonuses.

The Infrastructure Planning and EIA team supports development projects and land promotion for both external clients and in-house planning teams covering a wide range of sectors (including housing, education, retail, leisure, sport and infrastructure). More information on our EIA services can be found here.

You will work alongside colleagues with specialist skills in the provision of large scale planning projects, typically with EIA requirements.

The focus of the role is supporting the planning team in general, with particular involvement with the preparation of Environmental Impact Assessments.

Alongside a general town planning advice role, the position involves:

  • Preparation and Production of EIAs;
  • Provision of specialist EIA advice to external and internal contacts;
  • Assisting the Planning Team on large projects (including DCOs) , providing town planning advice/support;
  • Project management responsibilities on complex EIA projects (including the management of third party consultants).

For more experienced candidates, as an Associate director you will report to a Senior Director and assist in the supervision of staff. You must be able to demonstrate your ability to network, market and win business.

We will expect all candidates to have chartered membership of the RTPI, an RTPI accredited town planning qualification at Masters level (A RICS accredited qualification (planning & development route) and/or IEMA (or similar) accredited, at least a 2:1 or equivalent at first degree level, and full information on A level, GCSE (or equivalent) and other qualifications should be provided. Candidates are most likely to have a background in Planning and EIA, however candidates with different degrees but relevant experience may be considered.

Candidates must demonstrate a very high level of technical competency, and quality of work, carried out with minimal supervision, together with good analytical, communication, interpersonal, and writing skills. The role will require working on a number of projects, so a proven ability to manage your own time and workload within tight timescales, and ability to problem solve is critical. You may also have specialist EIA topic skills/interests.

Lichfields offers a highly competitive benefits package which is subject to negotiation. We are a very sociable company and it’s a great place to work.

We are an equal opportunities employer and welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons regardless of their race, sex, disability, religion/belief, sexual orientation or age.
