Rutherford Briant are looking to recruit an Employment Tax Manager for a Top 10 accountancy firm based in London.

Responsibilities

  • To manage and control a substantial portfolio of employment tax clients, ensuring both excellent client service and making a significant contribution towards the overall future development and success of the employment client team. The role also includes line manager responsibilities for the employment tax team and managing the tax compliance process for the office.
  • To act as day-to-day tax point of contact for employment tax clients, and to practice the principles of excellent client service at all times.
  • To provide tax planning and advice working closely with colleagues and other departments in order to add value to the client.
  • Take responsibility for the management of work in progress and billing on a portfolio of clients.
  • Manage the preparation of forms P11d for a portfolio of clients.
  • To provide adequate briefing, supervision and training for junior staff and review work completed by junior staff for adequacy and completeness. Also undertake job appraisals and assist in student recruitment, training and marketing activities as required.
  • To develop and maintain an advanced level of technical knowledge through appropriate reading and courses, and to fulfil the professional bodies’ CPE requirements including maintaining an awareness of the firm’s specialist services and publications, attending staffing meetings and training.
  • Carry out any other duties as are within the scope, spirit and purpose of the job, the title of the role and its grading, as requested by the Head of Department and Partners.
  • Dealing with all employment taxes matters arising on clients, to include P11D, PSA, termination payments, status, PAYE/NIC health check reviews, disclosures, HMRC enquiries, CIS, etc.
  • Will also become involved in the design, implementation and compliance of salary sacrifice arrangement and advice in connection with the tax treatment of equity arrangements, so experience will be an advantage but not core provided that there is a willingness to learn and broaden experience.
  • Identifying BD opportunities on existing clients for progression with support.

You will ideally be ATT/CTA or ACA qualified, may have previously worked at HMRC.
