Consultant Haematologist

Our multiple sites, Birmingham Heartlands Hospital, the Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Solihull Hospital and Community Services, Good Hope Hospital in Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham Chest Clinic allow people to be treated as close to home as possible.

Applications are invited for a Consultant Haematologist to join the Haematology Department at University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB). The post-holder will work across three sites Heartlands Hospital, Solihull Hospital and Good Hope Hospital however will be predominantly based in the Clinical Haematology Department located on ward 19 at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital.

The successful applicant will join the haematology team based at Heartlands Hospital and will be expected to participate in undergraduate and postgraduate education as well as take a share of the haematology rota for Heartlands and Good Hope. The post is advertised at 10 PAs although there may be opportunities to increase the number by discussion and mutual agreement.

The successful applicant will join an energetic and enthusiastic haematology team and this is an exciting opportunity for a physician wishing to contribute to the further development of the haematology services at UHB Trust

We are a Regional Centre for cancer, bone marrow transplants, trauma, renal dialysis, burns and plastics, HIV and AIDS, as well as respiratory conditions like cystic fibrosis; thoracic surgery and have the largest solid organ transplantation programme in Europe.

We have over 20,000 members of staff and we are committed to investing in their development and their health and wellbeing.

For all posts there will be a requirement to work flexibly which may include weekend and evening working which will be negotiated and agreed upon appointment.

We are a designated a Level 1 Trauma Centre and host of the UK’s only £20m National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Surgical Reconstruction and Microbiology Research Centre (SRMRC).
