A financial incentive of a £10k Golden Hello Payment will be offered to the successful applicant.
Applications are invited for a full-time consultant in general medicine with an interest in respiratory medicine and a sub-speciality interest in Allergy or Interstial Lung Disease. The successful applicants will work closely with the present team of eight employed across the whole Trust, which includes the Lister Hospital in Stevenage, the QEII Hospital in Welwyn Garden City and Hertford County Hospital in Hertford. The appointee will be based at the Lister Hospital, Stevenage where the respiratory in-patients has been centralised but will be expected to work at the sites within the Trust including the QEII hospital at Welwyn Garden city and Hertford County Hospital at Hertford.
The appointee will be expected to augment the services provided by the department. The department provides a respiratory service 7 days a week and the applicant will be involved in 7 day working. S/He will be part of the General Medical Team of consultants and be expected to participate in the Physician of the Week (on Call) rota. The present chest physicians are enthusiastic and determined to build an excellent department. There is a substantial Respiratory Nurse Specialist Group, full Endoscopy services, Sleep Unit and Lung Function Units. Applicants must be on the Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine and Respiratory Medicine or within 6 months of obtaining their CCT.
Following the investment of £150 million in major new facilities at the Lister, along with a £30 million New QEII hospital built by the local clinical commissioning group, the East and North Hertfordshire NHS Trust has brought together all its specialist emergency and inpatient services at the Stevenage hospital. Our state-of–the-art clinical facilities include a major new Emergency Department, the Hertfordshire Cardiology Centre (which includes a 24/7 PPCI service), new scanning centre, McMillan chemotherapy unit, ward, endoscopy and theatre blocks.
Applicants must be on the Specialist Register for General Internal Medicine and Respiratory medicine, or be within 6 months of doing so, at the time of interview. Applications from those wishing to work part-time or job share are welcomed.
