We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated band 8a clinical psychologist to join our service to provide input into our memory service and community mental health team (CMHT) for older people. The post will be based at the Laura Mitchell Health and Wellbeing Centre in the centre of Halifax.
The post will involve providing input for three days a week into the memory service. This will include the provision of neuropsychology assessments and work with the multidisciplinary memory team to provide psychological support. Two days a week the post-holder will provide assessment, formulation and therapeutic interventions with older people and their families within the CMHT. The role will also include formulating with the multi-disciplinary team (MDT) in order to enhance care plans. Other work with MDT colleagues will include the provision of psychological consultation, training and support. The teams are supportive and value psychological input. The post-holder will be well supported by psychology colleagues.
The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a preference of working within the field of older people’s mental health, as well as multi-disciplinary working. Please see the Person Specification to get a more complete understanding of the skills and experience we require.
Clinical supervision would be provided by Dr Jane Grant, Principal Clinical Psychologist and Dr Jools Shaw, Principle Clinical Psychologist. Professional support is also available via the network of Older People’s Clinical Psychologists across the Trust. The service has good access to the regional post-qualification training scheme and has good links with the University of Leeds Doctoral Training Course in Clinical Psychology.
