_We are currently recruiting for a_ _Scottish Apprenticeship in Hospitalitytrainee_ _to join the team at the Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa._

_The Sheraton Grand Hotel & Spa islocated in the heart of Edinburgh's financial district and cultural quarter andis one of Scotland's leading 5 star hotels. As the largest 5 star hotel in thecity with 269 bedrooms, we also have the biggest banqueting and meetingfacilities with a capacity of up to 500, One Square Restaurant and the awardwinning One Spa™, Scotland's leading city centre spa._


_The Scottish Apprenticeship in Hospitality (SAH) is open to17-24 year olds and is underpinned by the Modern Apprenticeship Hospitalityframework._

_Over the three years of the apprenticeship, learn about and gainexperience across a range of hotel operational areas - unlike currentapprenticeships which are generally restricted to one department. Masterclasses and Learning Journeys are delivered throughout the programme to supportthe curriculum._

_• Years 1 & 2: Apprentices spend time working in keyoperating departments - Housekeeping, Kitchen, Food & Beverage and Front ofHouse - leading to a SVQ Level 2 in Hospitality Services_

_• Year 3: Apprentices work in their chosen area of specialism,leading to a SVQ Level 3 in Hospitality Services_

_Apprentices have a network of support through the SAH programme,including 'department buddies', assessors, mentors and hotel sponsors._


_The programme begins with a two day induction that bringsapprentices together for the first time with key personnel from hotel partners.The induction is delivered by HR representatives from each hotel property andtraining provider partners._

**_Masterclasses & Learning Journeys_**

_A series of master classes throughout years 1 and 2 provide theapprentices with focussed sessions led by experts across a number of topics,and give the apprentices the opportunity to get together as a group.Apprentices are involved in planning the master classes, allowing them to gainhands-on event planning experience and an opportunity to grow theirprofessional networks._

_Master classes:_

_• Green Tourism at the Gleneagles Hotel_

_• Day visit to Apex Hotels Laundry in Livingston_

_• HIT Scotland Emerging Talent Conference_

_• DIAGEO Bar Academy_

_• WSET Level 1_

_• Andrew Fairlie's Secret Garden_

_• Patisserie with Neil Mugg_


_The Scottish Apprenticeship in Hospitality recognises thesuccess of the apprentices by providing high value, rewarding experiences. Atthe end of year one, through our partnership with the Hospitality IndustryTrust Scotland and Diageo Learning for Life, each apprentice will receive:_

_• A DIAGEO Learning for Life - HITS Craft Award._

_In addition, upon successfully completing the ScottishApprenticeship in Hospitality, each apprentice will be awarded:_

_• A DIAGEO Learning for Life - HITS Scholarship at a graduationceremony_


_Anyone aged between 17 and 24 years old with apassion for a career in hospitality can apply to the Scottish Apprenticeship inHospitality._

_Lack of experience is not a barrier, as long as youwant to work with people, love to learn and have an attitude to succeed we wantto meet you!_

_In return for your hard work and commitment,apprentices are paid a standard rate of pay in line with colleagues in the samedepartment. At the outset of the programme, apprentices are required tocomplete a minimum of two years with their original employer. At the end of thetwo years they may choose to transfer to another hotel partner for their finalyear, on the agreement of both hotel partners involved._
