Based within the Contract Management Office at RAF Shawbury, the Commercial Officer will act as a focal point for contract management related activity on the MFTS (RW) contract.
They will be supporting the Commercial Manager in the oversight of all Commercial and Contract activities, and will be required to build an in depth level of understanding of the contract terms & conditions.
Assist in the management of contract changes, ensuring changes are logged, and change proposals drafted
Document and monitor all minor contract deliverables
Report on contract performance penalties
Maintain contractual records
Support the drafting commercial letters relating to operational activities including relief on contractual obligations
Monitor company policies to ensure compliance is maintained
Analyse contract performance and provide recommendations for adjustments for improvement
Hasten collection of cash
Communicate with all parts of the business to foster an understanding of the contract terms
Assist senior management and work as a member of a cohesive team
This role is aimed at an individual holding approximately two years experience performing a contract and/or legal role.
Worked within a contract, commercial, and/or legal department focusing on contract terms & conditions
Ability to interpret various contract clauses
Drafting of commercial letters
Performed a legal and/or contract focused role within the Defence industry from either a public or private standpoint
An understanding of, and interpreting contract terms & conditions
Worked within the Aerospace industry
Experience of procurement processes
KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS
Must have a sound basis level of knowledge in business and contracts
Skill and ability to understand and synthesise unfamiliar concepts
Ability to build relationships widely around the organisation
Must have good analytical and problem solving skills
Excellent communication and reporting skills – written, verbal, and visual
Must have high computer literacy in particular MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Knowledge of business process analysis and improvement methodologies
Knowledge of procurement processes
EDUCATION, QUALIFICATIONS, SPECIAL TRAINING
Bachelors’ degree at 2:1 or above (equivalent experience considered in lieu)
LLB or formal education in contract and commercial law
International Association of Contract & Commercial Management (IACCM) certification or equivalent experience
Attendance at meetings in Oxford and Bristol on an infrequent basis
Travel to France and Germany on an infrequent basis
