Join the team at the St Mary’s Hospital to deliver high-quality clinical service to patients across four wards, comprising of 67 patients in total. Wards include medium secure (including 4 deaf patients), low secure, locked rehabilitation, and autism. We are moving to an all-male patient caseload, and almost all patients have a brain injury.
There will be two specialty doctors working acrosstwo wards each. There arethree full-time consultants (experienced in neuro-psychiatry, learning disability, forensic, and Deafness), and will be allocated a dedicated supervisor. Some consultants have active links with the University and local medical school for teaching, and the Royal College of Psychiatrists. You will have access to a half day of CPD on a Friday afternoon. You will be supported for CESR, AC approval, Section 12 (2) status if required, and study leave throughout the year for your appraisal.
You will have opportunities for research and audit. You will have opportunities to feed into a regular monthly medics’ meeting and to grow your CV.
There will be on call duties with opportunities for voluntary paid extra locum shifts. You will also have time off in lieu for on calls worked, which can be taken any time of your choosing (as long as cover is in place). Lunches are provided free of charge daily.
There will be great learning opportunities as you work with the multi-disciplinary team, which is comprised of the consultantpsychiatrist, clinical psychologist, nursing, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, social workers, forensic psychotherapist, positive behaviour support practitioner, physical health team, visiting GP every week, and practice nurse.
St Mary's Hospital offers a neurorehabilitation pathway supporting patients to transferfrom Medium Secure, Low Secure andlocked neurorehabilitation unit with four rehabilitation flats.The clinical team at St Mary's Hospital have establishedgood links with specialist ABI step-down placements in the North West and nationally to best support the transition to thecommunity.
There is an active service user network at St Mary's Hospital involved in service development.
