We know you became a Social Worker to make a difference. We also know you want to spend time on the parts of your work that really enable that to happen. We also understand you want to work flexibly and be supported practically and professionally to achieve a healthy work life balance.

We share your aims and Cafcass leads the way in when it comes to professional development, flexible working, use of technology and health and wellbeing support. And these were just some of the factors that contributed to Ofsted giving us an ‘outstanding’ rating at our last inspection in 2018, just the 4th national organisation to receive this rating.

Our Social Workers are called Family Court Advisers, although you may have also heard them referred to as Children’s Guardians. They advise the Family Court as children and families go through significant events including care proceedings, adoption and parental separation.

In this role you will be part of our Work After First Hearing team based from Worcester covering Worcestershire although we trust you to work flexibly whether this is in court, at home, in the office or of course, with children and families and provide the technology to enable this.

Should you join us you’ll use your social work skills and experience to understand what the child needs, wants and feels. You’ll then advise the Family Courts on the best course of action for the child by providing confident, powerful and succinct written case analysis and make recommendations to the court. You’ll also attend court and be an advocate for the child, ensuring their voice is not lost.

To be considered for such a privileged, responsible role of being the voice of some of the most vulnerable children in England, there are a few things we're looking for from you:

Qualified Social Worker with at least 3 years’ experience (or will have by time join us).
Registered with the HCPC as a Social Worker in England.
Experienced at working with highly vulnerable children and families.
An expert in safeguarding, child engagement, inter-agency working, case analysis, planning and recording.

We also think you for you to succeed and truly make a difference you should be someone who;

Is resilient and organised
Can work proportionately
Has strong, intuitive IT skills
Is an effective verbal and written communicator

Should you join us, not only will you receive a competitive salary but a range of other benefits which we believe collectively makes for a market-leading offer. Further information is in the attached document as is the formal job description / person specification and other relevant information.

To apply we have a simple application process and you can upload your current, up-to-date CV and provide a short supporting statement.

We know how busy Social Workers are, so we’d like to give you some dates for your diary to help you understand the timescales we are working to:

Last date for applications:

20th October 2019

Telephone interviews:

25th to 30th October 2019

Final interview / assessment:

w/c 4th November 2019

These dates are subject to change but rest assured we will be in touch as quickly as we can.
