Applications are invited for the post of permanent Specialty Doctor in Breast Surgery at Macclesfield District General Hospital. The successful candidate will have extensive experience in Breast surgery, and would also have the opportunity to provide out of hours on-call cover for the General Surgical department and also work in Breast outpatients and theatres under the supervision of the 2 Consultant Breast Surgeons.
Applicants should have a good level of experience. The contract is full time, 10 PA’s per week, and the General Surgery element of the role includes an on call commitment. Included within the 10 PAs is protected time for continuing professional development. Duties include the provision of clinical and administrative care to both in-patients and outpatients, in addition to attending outpatient clinics and theatre sessions as time-tabled. Attendance at Multi-disciplinary meetings and audit meetings is mandatory. Supervision of the junior doctors and medical students attached to the firm is part of the role

The hospital has an A&E Department and inpatient facilities for general surgery, orthopaedics and obstetrics and gynaecology. The ITU/HDU currently has 6 beds. Approximately 2,200 babies are delivered here annually.
