We are looking for an inspirational pharmacist to lead our education, training and development programme, a programme that is central to the success of the department and the delivery of Medicines Optimisation in the hospital and further afield. We are committed to working with our partners within Cornwall in delivering an exciting and rewarding cross-sector training experience for our staff. Our aim is to produce highly skilled pharmacy staff ready to move into whatever sector is required to support the delivery of Brilliant Care within Cornwall.
The Royal Cornwall hospital pharmacy department is a forward thinking and friendly team with full deployment of electronic prescribing and administration in the inpatient and outpatient setting and fully automated dispensing. We provide an innovative clinical pharmacy service, combining technology and clinical pharmacy expertise. We are a recognised national leader for innovation in fields such as antimicrobial resistance and the adoption of Scan4Safety standards, as was recognised in the 2019 HSJ Patient Aafety Awards. All these functions are supported by an excellent wholesale dealer supply service, a well-equipped licensed pharmacy technical services unit and the full range of medicines optimisation support services including medicines information, education and training, formulary support and digital medicines. We have also recently had the funding for a new pharmacy department confirmed as part of an exciting £100m investment which includes a new Women’s and Children’s hospital.
You will report into the Principal Pharmacist for Prescribing Support and will be supported by an education and training pharmacy technician and admin and clerical support. You will be responsible for overseeing the core education and training functions of the department, including pre-registration, diploma and advanced practice and can rely on the support of colleagues for its delivery. You will link in with Education and Training leads in the Cornwall Partnership Trust and Primary Care Networks to deliver a cross-sector training experience where appropriate.You will also maintain a clinical responsibility with a regular ward commitment.
