We have a vacancy for an experienced Genetic Counsellor to work at Principal level. We are looking for a dynamic and motivated individual to join our established Genetics Team providing a service for the whole of the West Midlands Region (population 5.6 million).
The post holder will be based at Birmingham Women’s Hospital and hold clinics in the West Midlands region. Clinically the role can encompass both cancer and general genetics with the opportunity to develop or foster an area of specialist interest.
This post is an integral part of the Genetic Counsellor management team and the post holder will contribute to leading our compassionate team of genetic counsellors and nurse specialists in genetics in conjunction with the Principal and Consultant Genetic Counsellors and Lead Consultant GC.
As a Principal genetic counsellor the successful applicant will make a key contribution to the strategic direction of the genetic counselling and clinical service through supported roles in management, education, training, research and service improvement. This role is part of the Genomics and mainstream medicine team and as such presents particular opportunities for strategic development and education in this area. The role has traditionally carried an honorary lectureship with the University of Birmingham.
The successful candidate will be a GCRB Registered Genetic Counsellor with significant experience of genetic counselling. Experience of education, leadership and management are advantageous, as are experience of both cancer and general genetics.
