We’re looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to support the Regional Manager across our Dorset Health in Justice Prison cluster.
About the Job:
As the Consultant Psychiatrist for our Dorset prison cluster, you’ll provide dynamic leadership of the mental health profession across the Care UK Health in Justice services in Dorset (This covers HMP Guys Marsh, HMP The Verne & HMP Portland) and within this, you will be pivotal in engaging the mental health workforce to support the delivery of the organisation’s objectives, ensuring the provision of an effective high quality mental health workforce within the available resources.
As the Lead Psychiatrist, you’ll support the Regional manager in shaping the policies and strategies for developing and modernising mental health practice throughout the Health in Justice Service line in order to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate healthcare services for our patients.
You'll be an experienced Psychiatrist with up to date knowledge in adult psychiatry and a strong awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation. With evidence of continued professional development, you'll be fully registered on the General Medical Council (GMC) - relevant to post and grade and have registration with the Royal College of Psychiatrists and have experience of management, leadership and accountability, as well as developing clinical services and in good standing with the Royal College of Psychiatrists’ Department of CPD (established Consultants only).

This is a full time role, working 22.5 hours per week. The base of the role is to be discussed at interview but the flexibility to travel across our Dorset Health in Justice Services is essential.
