Theatre Manager

Accountable for leading, motivating and supervising a multidisciplinary team we are seeking an experienced and enthusiastic manager to lead from the front. Tees Valley Hospital is in the grounds of Acklam Hall in Middlesbrough and opened in February 2018. The hospital delivers a range of specialties including orthopaedics, general surgery, plastic surgery, urology, gynaecology, dermatology, oral, ENT, endoscopy, to both private and NHS patients. Our state of the art theatre suite consists of 3 laminar flow theatres, a six bay recovery area and endoscopy suite.

Reporting to the Head of Clinical Services, key responsibilities include:

• Providing supportive and inspirational leadership to the theatre team & foster excellent relationships with Consultants, suppliers and other key stakeholders
• Participating in delivery of care where necessary being a role model to ensure highest standards of theatre practice are maintained
• Managing resources within budget and ensure quality and financial KPIs are achieved
• Managing the governance agenda ensuring policy compliance, audit & action planning, a continuous cycle of improvement
• Being an integral part of the Hospital Management Team participating in strategy development and driving plans for achievement and success

Essential Requirements:

• Registered Nurse or ODP
• Recognised management qualification
• Previous leadership experience within a theatre department
• Evidence of effectively managing a successful team, including recruitment capability
• Demonstrable leadership, personnel management skills, knowledge and experience
• Evidence of successful change management
• Strong commercial and financial awareness
• Demonstrable planning and organisational skills
• Sound written (report writing) and verbal communication skills

Desirable Requirements

• Surgical First Assistant or ALS qualification
• Previous private sector health care experience
