If you are a highly organised and experienced administrative professional, dedicated to improving outcomes for young people, then your skills will be valued here in the Safeguarding Unit (Multi Agency Safeguarding Hub, MASH), based in Winchester. The Safeguarding Unit (MASH) is responsible for several functions, including monitoring allegations involving any persons in a responsible role working with children, and Child Entertainment and Employment Licensing. This is a varied position, where you will provide fundamental administrative support behind the scenes, to assist frontline teams in safeguarding young people, promoting their welfare and maximising their life chances.

What does the role involve?

The Senior Administrative Assistant provides a fundamental support service to Safeguarding Unit, including:

• Assessing customer requirements and responding to routine enquiries, referring enquiries to senior staff when required
• Retrieving and analysing of Social Care records
• Providing an efficient service when dealing with internal and external communication, and holding a strict regard for confidentiality
• Assisting in the input and interrogation of computerised information, as appropriate, including word processing of various documents as required by the team
• Attending and minute taking at internal and external meetings

Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• GCSE Maths and English Grade A – C, or equivalent
• Demonstrable skills in Microsoft Office including Outlook, Word, PowerPoint and Excel
• Ability to use own initiative and work effectively with minimum supervision
• Awareness of equalities issues and anti-discriminatory practices
• Administrative experience
• Effective communication skills
• Ability to respect confidentiality
• Ability to work well as a team member
• Ability to work under pressure and to adapt to changing priorities
• Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy
• Minute taking experience

Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• IT Qualification
• Knowledge of Social Care and Education IT systems

• Occasional verbal abuse and / or aggression from service users
• Infrequent manual handling of objects up to 5kg
• Use of Display Screen Equipment (DSE)
• Ability to fulfil the travel requirements of the role
